We're looking for an Accountant to join our team and be part of our next stage of growth. As our Accountant, you will be a true finance partner within Traction Rec with a focus on supporting our Services and Sales team. Your day is filled with variety as you will be responsible for accounts payable and receivable, banking, and assisting with general ledger duties and reporting as needed. You offer financial insights and analysis and help the financial processes scale with the business. You will learn the business, own your portion of the work, and pitch in when necessary.

Skills

Traction Rec'rs come from a variety of backgrounds, and we are eager to find people that are from diverse backgrounds. Typically, we find that people are successful in this role when they have:

  • Post-secondary education in a business or accounting program and/or previous experience in full cycle accounting (1-2 years preferred)
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using software such as NetSuite is a bonus.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Able to operate effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to forge effective relationships through all organizational levels and with customers
  • Passion for process improvement and the drive and tenacity to exceed performance expectations and manage change

What You Will Be Doing

  • Prepare full cycle accounts payable including vendor bills, expense reports, and corporate credit cards.
  • Address queries from external and internal stakeholders regarding accounts payable.
  • Responsible for customer billing and cash receipt processing including preparing invoices, recording payments, and processing bank deposits.
  • Maintain accrual and prepaid schedules.
  • Prepare bi-weekly payment runs, which includes wire transfers, EFT, and ACH payments.
  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Assist with month end close which includes reconciling accounts and preparing journal entries
  • Support tax remittance and filings including GST, PST, and SUT remittance preparation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with governing legislation and regulations
  • Collaborating with other employees to ensure data in the system is feeding properly into reporting data
  • Support other Finance team members with other ad-hoc projects.

Compensation

At Traction Rec, we are committed to a fair, market-based and equitable compensation structure. Our market data is refreshed on an annual basis to reflect the most current market conditions.

The starting salary band for this role is $70,000-$77,000. Starting salaries will vary within this range based on experience, skill level, and internal equity related to the role.
