There is one contract Student Employment Clerk position available starting on May 13, 2024, and ending on July 05, 2024. working 35 hours per week. - Cambridge Site.

Your Role:

As a member of the Employment Services Department, works with the Youth Job Connect Summer and all Employment Ontario programs, assisting youth clients to secure and maintain summer employment. Collects, records, maintains, and files data on clients, employers and programs to accurately manage training subsidies. program and client files. Welcomes and assists with providing information and support to all clients using the Resource Centre, providing information and support. Attends Assists with workshops, job fairs and information sessions.

Tasks:

Client Service:

  1. Evaluates and responds to the needs of youth and employers, conducting assessments for eligibility of the Youth Job Connect Summer and Youth Job Link programs.
  2. Assists with pre-employment training to individual youth, one-to-one or in a group format, preparing them for job search and work experience.
  3. Assists with matching students to work experience placements that relate to their skills, interests, short-term and long-term educational and career goals.
  4. Assists the Supervisor, Employment Services to market the programs to employers and youth in Waterloo Region and Wellington County.
  5. Completes job postings to employers' specifications and posts/advertises jobs accordingly.
  6. Tracks matches and arranges payment accordingly.
  7. Ensures positive relations are maintained with employers to maintain the integrity of the programs.
  8. Assists in advising clients as they use the Resource Centre in the areas of employment, career planning, education, and training.
  9. Updates, photocopies, and faxes resumes for clients; supports with the completion of online applications.
  10. Remains knowledgeable and up to date on all tools and supports available in the Resource Centre, including community resource pamphlets and flyers, computer software, accessibility tools and career planning assessments; provides guidance and assistance to individuals using these resources.
  11. Completes client follow-up calls for programs as requested.
  12. Administers customer satisfaction surveys on a regular basis. Reviews results with Supervisor and implements action based on customer feedback.

Administration:

  1. Ensures youth and employer eligibility criteria are met and verified as outlined in program guidelines.
  2. Collects, records, maintains, and files data on clients, employers, and programs.
  3. Assists the Supervisor in the preparation of administrative and program reports and on-site reviews by funders.
  4. Works in conjunction with the Supervisor to ensure necessary statistical data is collected and recorded.
  5. Ensures that all program guidelines, as set out by program funders, are met.
  6. Stays current on labour market information related to job openings, entry and skill requirements and other occupational information.

Your Talents and Experience:

Knowledge and experience of employment/career development through direct or indirect experience and training. Ability to relate well with the public. Strong organizational, communication and administrative skills desired. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and as part of a high performing team. Strong interpersonal skills, able to effectively collaborate with clients and teams. Some evening work will be required. Excellent oral and written skills. Working knowledge of MS Office and various social media and virtual platforms.

Additional Canada Summer Jobs Requirements: * To be eligible, youth must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

When determining the rate of pay for external hires, a candidate's past related experience will be taken into consideration along with where others with similar experience currently fall within the band.
