The Opportunity:

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer .NET to join our Information Technology team on a 12 month contract.

This role requires you to perform essential duties 1-3 days per week in your assigned Aviso Office. We are at 1111 West Georgia St, Vancouver, BC

Reporting to the Software Lead, the Senior Software Engineer .Net Developer is responsible for writing code, unit testing and analyzing software programs and applications that support business requirements. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the software development life cycle. This role will also provide technical leadership to project managers and programmers working on development project teams and participate in driving a culture of continuous improvement.

What your day looks like:

  • Consistently write, translate, and code software programs and applications according to specifications using proven best practices
  • Assist developers, architects, and business analysts in supporting the technical analysis and development of new software programs. Actively participate and/or lead in project planning and management. Provide assistance with establishing system scope and analysis
  • Prepare detailed specifications for solutions and on an as needed basis; act as a knowledge resource for the preparation and documentation of program requirements
  • Work closely with other departments to identify and resolve operational system issues; support deployment activities
  • Provide guidance/peer reviews to Level I & II developers through the development process. Assist with department, people management, and team lead related duties as required by management

Requirements

Your experience and skills:

  • College diploma or university degree in Computer Science or related field and/or 5 years equivalent work experience
  • 5 years' experience in software development; Experience in the financial industry and following a secure SDLC methodology (such as Microsoft Security Development Lifecycle) an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft programming languages/tools, including .NET Core, ASP.NET, .NET Framework using C# for server-side development using RESTful Web Services/WCF, Entity (ORM) frameworks, and cloud development using Azure services
  • Experience working with web-based front end technologies using JavaScript frameworks, cross-browser/responsive web design concepts, third-party API integration and client-side performance optimization
  • A strong understanding of software development best practices, secure coding concepts and design patterns/principles (MVC, Service-oriented Architecture, Dependency Injection)
  • Proficient with Visual Studio, Source/Version Control tools & concepts, and debugging techniques
  • Working knowledge of developing with relational databases using MS SQL Server
  • Proficient with Unit Testing Frameworks; Experience with Test Driven Development methodology an asset
  • Experience with developing solutions using Visual Studio App Center and native Mobile (iOS, Android) environments an asset
  • Experience with package management (i.e., NuGet) and continuous integration/test/deployment using Azure DevOps Services
  • Fluent communication skills in English are required and bilingual skills in French are an asset
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities
  • Experience in Agile/SCRUM methodologies and leadership skills preferred
  • Flexible and adaptable in regard to learning and understanding new technologies
  • Expert ability to foresee technical challenges in solutions and provide recommendations to management
  • Ability to prepare detailed technical specifications for solutions
  • Ability to conduct research into software-related issues and products
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities; takes initiative to navigate around obstacles and challenges
  • Enthusiastic and hardworking attitude

Salary

This position is posted with an expected salary of $90 CAD hourly. Individual compensation packages are based on various factors unique to each candidate and the requirements of the position.
