They have successfully went live with their new HR and Finance implementation of Workday. Their Integrated Renewal Program (IRP) is now focused on the journey to renew their student information ecosystem, anchored by the implementation of Workday Student. The Integrated Renewal Program—Student (IRP Student) vision is to transform the way the client supports learning and research, and how they work, to create a cohesive, integrated, and enriched experience for students, staff, and faculty. This implementation will result in superior support for the students, a better user experience, a new set of tools, a new way of working, and improved reporting for informed decision-making. IRP Student will leverage the industry-leading cloud enterprise solution Workday to replace our current core Student administration systems with a new integrated, user-friendly, mobile-enabled platform. The Project Manager I, under the Department: Workday Project Management, manages the entire lifecycle of a small project or phases of a larger project which includes developing a project plan, coordinating the activities of a project team, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing schedules to ensure timely completion of the project. The Project Manager I manage the entire life cycle of a project from development to operations. The Project Manager reports to the Senior Project Manager, Student Solution but may receive direction from IRP's PMO. What you will be doing:
  • Prepares project plans. Monitors scope, schedule, budget, and other key aspects to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Completes project status reports on a biweekly basis.
  • Works with project stakeholders to ensure requirements are met.
  • Manages expectations and fosters excellent communication in a collaborative environment.

  • Establishes a sustainable mechanism for the collection of any requirements and data; engages with departments to ensure that outcomes will meet their needs.
  • Writes formal reports, including status reports and formal documentation.
  • Manages expectations and fosters excellent communication in a collaborative environment.
  • Works with stakeholders to enable buy-ins for the project outcomes as required.
  • Initiates projects following appropriate project management methodology including gathering and defining project requirements, developing project charters, project plans, budgets, and schedules, identifying staffing requirements, and forming project teams.
  • Follows project management methods, procedures, and quality objectives, and tracks metrics for assessing progress.
  • Provides work direction and leadership to the assigned project team, including scheduling, assignment of work, review of project efforts, and removal of roadblocks that may inhibit project success.
  • Assesses variances from the project plans, budgets, and schedules develops and implements changes as necessary to ensure that the project remains within the specified scope and is within time, cost, and quality objectives, and keeps management aware of the situation.
  • Conducts formal review with the business sponsor at project completion to confirm acceptance and satisfaction.
  • Identifies and recommends potential improvements in current methodologies.
  • Develops and maintains a productive working relationship with project sponsors, vendors, and key clients.
  • Maintains appropriate professional designations and up-to-date knowledge of current information technology techniques and tools.
  • Performs other related duties as required
What you must have:
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Discipline such as Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or other applications of study.
  • Preferred Project Management Professional (PMP) certified or other equivalent project management certificates.
  • 3+ years' experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Having experience with ERP projects and agile methodology is highly preferred.
  • Experience in project management is preferred.
  • Some experience working in an academic environment would be an asset; comfort in working in a technical environment is mandatory.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies.
  • Ability to work independently, under pressure, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to build and lead teams.
  • Understanding of business and system analysis methodologies.
  • Strong analytical/research skills.
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and coordination skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal & team skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and use of online resources.
  • Experience in project management tools (Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, JIRA & Confluence) is an asset.
  • Business Enterprise Knowledge - Keeps informed on business operations data.
