Job Summary: Responsible to identify and improve the outcomes of manufacturing and operational processes to improve efficiencies, reduce cost and increase customer service

Required Education and Experience:

  • University and/or technical college in Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineering or Business with following experience:
  • Minimum 1 - 2 years of manufacturing, welding and general maintenance related experience in automotive industry
  • Clear and precise understanding of automotive OEMs practices and expectations
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with leading organization for leadership and competency
  • Excellent Communication Skills (oral and written)
  • Working knowledge of automotive customers
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Travel required on occasional basis

Essential Functions:

  • Plan, coordinate, lead and participate with various multi-disciplined teams addressing objectives associated with the manufacturing and assembly process, productivity, volume outputs, scrap and rework, quality, safety, and delivery commitments to optimize a profitable operation

  • Responsible for execution of corporate guidelines in all aspects of manufacturing

  • Train manufacturing operations in corporate protocols ensuring optimal results

  • Ensure manufacturing and assembly processes comply with pertinent health, safety and environmental legislation, practices, and procedures

  • Lead Continuous improvement projects following lean manufacturing tools:

    • Training of employees from upper management to operator on lean manufacturing methodology and culture

    • Systematically identify and eliminate waste on manufacturing floor

    • Push to implement innovative and creative new ideas and methods in Process improvement and Organization

    • Measuring and improving machine and operator efficiencies

    • Assess and implement projects in relation to current or future product planning

    • Draft and design layout of equipment and materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency

    • Review production schedules, engineering specifications, orders, and related information to obtain knowledge of manufacturing methods, procedures, and activities

    • Requisition tooling, capital and tryout material for projects

    • Develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and cost analysis systems to promote efficient staff and facility utilization

    • Advise management and user personnel in development of production and design standards

    • Study operations sequence, material flow, functional statements, organization charts, and project information to determine worker functions and responsibilities. Value analysis and value engineering ideas

    • Use statistical data and product specifications to determine standards and establish productivity objectives

  • Participate in development of in-house manufacturing processes, equipment, fixtures and tooling

  • Develop and provide guidance to error-proof all aspects of the manufacturing and operational process

  • Conduct studies and implement project plans to improve production efficiencies, cost reductions and reduce manufacturing costs

  • Troubleshoot process/equipment related issues and fine tune process to eliminate process-induced defects

  • Review processing methods and provide continuous development of manufacturing techniques that will improve in-house capabilities

  • Supports in development of Process flow charts, Control Plans, PFMEA, DFMEA and Prototype builds

  • Support in development of Preventative Maintenance Program for all manufacturing process equipment

Work Environment:

  • 40% Office environment, 60% Plant floor (PPE required)

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 35lbs.
  • Must be able to work with push pull forces of up to 50lbs. or less

Health and Safety:

  • Must work in accordance with Health and Safety regulations, Company and plant rules, policies and procedures
  • Must use or wear Personal Protective Equipment and certain clothing as required by the Company
