The Opportunity:
The Manager, Financial Accounting position involves preparing and analyzing financial statements in compliance with IFRS, overseeing general ledger management, collaborating with cross-functional teams, managing external audit and compliance, staying updated on accounting standards, serving as a subject matter expert, providing recommendations to senior management, and leading team management and mentorship efforts.

What You'll Be Responsible For:
· Create and evaluate financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with IFRS standards.
· Carry out thorough financial analysis to detect patterns, discrepancies, and opportunities for enhancement, and offer valuable suggestions to top-level management.
· Construct and uphold financial reporting mechanisms, templates, and procedures to simplify and boost the efficiency of financial reporting.
· Work together with various departments such as Finance, Corporate Accounting, FP&A, and Treasury to guarantee the accuracy and timeliness of financial data.
· Analyze important financial indicators to assist in making well-informed decisions.
· Recognize areas where financial processes can be enhanced, automated, and optimized for efficiency.
· Act as the main contact for external auditors and oversee audits to comply with regulations.
· Prepare necessary financial information for external reporting.
· Keep informed about accounting standards, regulations, and best practices to ensure adherence.
· Provide expertise on technical accounting issues by drafting position papers and note disclosures.
· Supervise the overall accounting activities of the general ledger to guarantee the precision and thoroughness of financial records.
· Inspect and authorize journal entries, account reconciliations, and additional financial transactions.
· Implement and uphold accounting guidelines and protocols to uphold internal controls and adhere to applicable regulations.
· Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, open communication, and ongoing development.
· Guide, mentor, and train financial accountants to improve their skills and performance while setting performance goals, conducting evaluations, and creating growth opportunities.
The Ideal Candidate:
· Post Secondary Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
· Accounting designation (CPA, CGA, CMA) is required.
· 5-7+ years of demonstrated experience in financial accounting.
· 3-5+ years of direct experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
· Proficient in accounting and financial processes, including financial reporting, accounting, and consolidation.
· Possesses strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze financial data and provide strategic insights.
· Thorough understanding of IFRS accounting standards is an essential component of this role.
· Ability to coach and mentor a team of direct reports with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
· Effective interpersonal communication capabilities with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
Complimentary Experience:
· Experience working with ERP systems such as Quickbooks or Sage, alongside previous experience working with Caseware.
· Ability to effectively multitask while maintaining strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Industry experience in healthcare, insurance, or other related fields would be considered an asset.
