Mechanical Services team consists of Engineers and Technologist and provides mechanical and material testing, consulting, and failure analysis to utilities, EPC companies, and equipment manufacturers. Our skilled Engineers and Technologists operate out of our world class mechanical laboratory, which is outfitted with equipment to perform vibration, thermal, environmental, tension, compression, fatigue test, hydrogen embrittlement testing, Conductors testing such as stress strain, condition assessment and creep test and type and design tests of cables, insulators, fittings and other power system components and hardware's. In addition to this power system work, we also provide these same services to various other industries such as infrastructure, transportation, and electronics.
We are seeking a motivated Junior Engineer with a degree in Material or Mechanical Engineering to join our team. Under the supervision of the Division Manager of High Voltage and Mechanical Testing Services, the ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting material and mechanical testing on various materials, including fatigue testing, slow strain rate testing, hydrogen embrittlement testing, tensile testing, and more. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work hands-on with cutting-edge testing equipment and methodologies while contributing to the success of both our clients and our company.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage projects (scope, schedule, and budgets) of low to moderate complexity or support projects of higher complexity with supervision.
  • Participate in design of project methodology and prepare quotations and technical or test reports.
  • Plan, schedule, and execute testing and inspections, both in-house and in the field, considering availability of technologist staff, equipment, and customer needs.
  • Coordinate and assist technologists involved in field and lab testing; - Develop processes to improve the efficiency of operations.
  • Work with multiple contractors and clients at any given time.
  • Maintain professional relationships with other departments, outside consultants, contractors and suppliers in order to gather and relay information and resolve issues of concern.
  • Prepare Engineering reports as needed for projects.
  • Research standards, online material and other sources of information to quickly understand client needs and meet technical requirements.
  • Design and build custom test equipment and data acquisition systems when needed under supervision of senior engineers.
  • Develop laboratory processes, procedures, and maintenance improvement.
What you bring
  • Materials or Mechanical or Metallurgical engineering or equivalent degree recognized by universities in Canada required.
  • Minimum one-year related material/mechanical knowledge, previous coop experience is acceptable.
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as an Engineer in Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (EGBC).
  • Hands-on experience with material and mechanical testing techniques is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Passion for learning and willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards and testing protocols is a plus.

Annual Salary: $72,460 - $85,250
