As an integrated mill, Espanola operates one pulp machine for making specialty hardwood and softwood pulps, and two paper machines that produce more than 300 different types of paper. Their FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) chain of custody certification, along with ISO 14001, also places them in the North American forefront. Through this solution based approach you can be a part of driving change in the organization by helping to identify and implement solutions leading to operations excellence. What you will be doing:
  • Assist the Health and Safety Manager with the day-to-day activities of the Health and Safety programs.
  • Assist in developing and implementing systems and processes designed to create safe work cultures
  • Serve as the first stop response to site issues, concerns and questions
  • Provide consistency is safety decisions and determinations and ensure common approaches and practices are put in place and utilized
  • Foster open communications and seek to build the cohesiveness and efficiency of
  • health and safety community
  • Review and analyze real time safety performance, incident investigations, and corrective action thoroughness to ensure issues are resolved and completed.
  • Knowledge of guidelines, interpretation, legal documents and WSIB
  • Demonstrate behaviors and work styles that are consistent with the company's values
What you must have:
  • Min 5 years' experience in similar or heavy industry
  • Must have a related university degree
  • Must have a complete understanding of Health/Safety/Loss Prevention legislative requirements and standards.
  • Meeting the requirements for the Canadian Registered Safety Professional designation is a definite asset.
