Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is currently searching for a Manager, EDI to join our team in Burnaby!

The Manager, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) is responsible for leading all activities at Engineers and Geoscientist BC in the areas of EDI and Truth and Reconciliation (T&R) initiatives. This includes policies and internal and external programs for staff, volunteers, and registrants. This role provides subject matter expertise, support, and guidance to staff, volunteers, and registrants in in the areas of EDI and T&R initiatives.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Supports the Associate Director, EDI in defining the role the organization can play in the areas of EDI and T&R given its regulatory mandate. Plays a lead role in the development of an organizational strategy in the areas of EDI and T&R as part of the strategic plan.

  • Develops and leads the execution of action plans in the areas of EDI and T&R based on the strategy developed, including overseeing the daily work and the formal performance management of the EDI Coordinator.

  • Supports the organization's EDI volunteer groups and represents Engineers and Geoscientists BC in Engineers Canada's 30 by 30 Networks and Working Groups. This includes volunteer management, agenda and material development for meetings, presentation development, etc.

  • Acts as the organization's subject matter expert in the areas of EDI and T&R. As such, keeps abreast of leading practices and research in support of EDI and T&R.

  • Develops content with the Communications department for communication channels to consistently inform registrants and staff about EDI and T&R initiatives, educational materials, resources, and progress in implementing the action plans in these areas.

  • Leads the organization in the collection, analysis and reporting of EDI and T&R data to measure trends.

  • Provides advice, guidance and subject matter expertise to staff, registrants and volunteers in the areas of EDI and T&R.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE

The successful applicant will possess the following:

  • Bachelor's degree is required.

  • A recognized certification in EDI or advanced education/degree in diversity and equity issues is preferred.

  • 5+ years experience leading organizational EDI initiatives or programs.

  • 5+ years experience in research and best practices related to EDI.

  • 3+ years experience in working with Indigenous Peoples and in issues of Truth and Reconciliation.

  • 3+ years experience providing leadership and direction to direct reports, including coaching / mentoring and overseeing performance.

  • Experience supporting diversity, equity and inclusion efforts at an organization, regulatory body or professional services firm.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of workplace inclusion concepts and methodologies. Demonstrated knowledge of Truth & Reconciliation with Indigenous People in Canada.

  • Skills in data analysis, report writing, developing and facilitating education / training, and project management.

  • Keen attention to detail, action-oriented, excellent organization skills and demonstrated ability to move forward multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and communicate and collaborate effectively across all functions and levels.

This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $92,000 to $103,000. Placement within the hiring range will be based on candidate experience relative to the requirements of the role. Additional details on our generous benefit offerings are found below.
