Position: Business Data Analyst

We are looking for an energetic, motivated and adaptable professional to join our growing business in a key role supporting various business stakeholders and senior management. The successful candidate will be a critical source of business intelligence and change agent to the organization. You will be the go-to person and centre of excellence in providing timely business intelligence and to drive data-driven initiatives forward by leveraging your data analytics skills as well as business acumen. You will also have opportunity to work with executives to explore new and innovative ways to enhance our lending products as well as optimize daily operations via insightful data analysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Become the centre of excellence of data and go-to person across the organization on data related requirements
  • Own end-to-end reporting of BI tool: from ETL from primary (Salesforce) and secondary data sources to build data modules to visualizing dashboards based on business requirements
  • Assist in migration from current BI tool, Sisense, to Power BI
  • Own Report Object of Salesforce to quickly build and share real-time reports based on Salesforce components
  • Write sophisticated SQL queries to extract data from Salesforce CRM components and/or other source applications and databases as per specified requirements
  • A key driving force and partner in data-driven strategic initiatives in new product launch, existing product enhancement and customer service and operations
  • Actively analyze existing data reporting practices as well as report repositories to propose and execute better ideas in Identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Actively identify data gaps and collaborate with busienss stakeholders and IT developers to close the gaps to provide more relevant data insights and improve existing processes
  • Collaborate with IT to maintain data integrity across Salesforce based CRM and Q2 Loan Management Systems including filtering and cleaning up legacy data
  • Present and articulate reports and dashboards to key business stakeholders and senior management
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs
  • Aspired to leverage new, innovative technology such as ChatGPT to solve practical business needs/issues

Required Skills & Experience

  • At least 2-3 years of proven experience in Power BI and 3-5 Years in data analysis related role(s)
  • Strong knowledge in relational database (SQL, Oracle, etc.), data schema and SQL queries
  • Strong knowledge of data visualization best practices using Power BI or other BI tools
  • Advanced Excel: Proficiency in using advanced Excel functions and features parallel to Power BI tasks
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in data analysis and reporting

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Understanding of Salesforce objects and data schema is a great plus
  • Certification in Power BI, and/or any other certifications in relevant fields
  • DAX to create formulas and expressions for complex data manipulation
  • Knowledge of the key metrics in financial services (lending industry preferred)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team, partnering with other departments to understand their data needs and deliver solutions

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, information systems, finance/economics, or engineering
  • Other continuous learning certification is an asset
