Location: Albany, PE (Onsite)
Pay Range: $65,000 - $80,000 per year.

Position Summary:
The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our grinds and value-added departments, including production planning, scheduling, inventory management, and cost allocations. The Production Manager will play a key role in optimizing production processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness. The Production manager also leads and manages the production team on the grind line and value-added departments, ensuring the efficient operation of equipment, adherence to safety protocols, and the production of high-quality beef products. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, experience in meat processing, and a commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards. This position has emphasis on general and skilled operations, quality assurance and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the operation of the grind line and value-added department, including equipment setup, monitoring production, and troubleshooting any issues that arise.
  • Manage and provide guidance to production team members, including training, scheduling, troubleshooting issues, assigning tasks to team in the absence of supervisor, and performance management.
  • Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet customer demand and production targets.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards throughout the production process.
  • Monitor product quality and make adjustments as needed to maintain consistency and meet customer specifications.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as procurement, logistics, sales, and quality assurance, to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery of products.
  • Oversee inventory management activities, including inventory tracking, product traceability, stock replenishment, and inventory optimization to minimize excess and obsolete inventory.
  • Conduct regular cost analysis, cost allocations, sales planning, to identify cost-saving and sales opportunities and ensure cost-effective production operations.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability among production team members.
  • Perform daily walk around visual inspection of the department to observe for unsafe acts or conditions and take immediate action where necessary.
  • Ensure HACCP and BRC standards are being met.
  • Maintain or exceed goals on yields and efficiencies.
  • Take the necessary steps to ensure downtime is maintained at the lowest possible level.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, manufacturing, or related field or equivalent work experience (meat industry experience is an asset).
  • Proven experience in production management, with a focus on managing departmental operations, production planning, scheduling, inventory management, and cost allocations.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members to achieve production targets and quality standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of production processes and best practices, including lean manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in production planning and scheduling software (e.g., ERP systems).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Certification in food safety (e.g., HACCP) is an asset.
  • Must possess a basic level of technical proficiency to assist operators in problem solving and be able to direct and guide maintenance team in set up of machines and equipment.
