A TYPICAL DAY WILL INCLUDE:

• Construct, install, and repair equipment and machinery
• Diagnose equipment problems and determine repairs needed
• Perform daily safety and maintenance checks
• Repair, overhaul, maintain, and service diesel powered vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, graders, dump trucks, and excavators
• Repair, overhaul, maintain, and service fuel injection systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, air conditioning systems, lubrication systems, engine control systems, major internal engine repairs or overhaul, installation and alignment of engines and machinery
• Repair, overhaul, maintain, and service electric, propane and diesel forklift, pallet jack and trailer repair.
• Diagnose defects in heavy duty equipment
• Inspect, repair, and adjust gasoline and diesel powered units
• Installation of new and added-on equipment
• Electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Repair mechanical transmissions, drive-trains, and final-drives
• Test repaired equipment
• Clean, lubricate, and perform other maintenance work
• Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
• Other mechanical repair work as required
• Other duties, as assigned

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS FOR SUCCESS:

• Proven mechanical abilities in hydraulics and electrical, including schematic and diagnostics
• Be a proficient trouble shooter
• Be comfortable performing calls independently or as part of a team
• Enjoy working in a high paced dynamic environment
• Be flexible and willing to work a rotating work schedule
• Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing

• Possess a BC or Inter provincial journeyman designation as a Heavy Duty Mechanic or have equivalent practical experience
• Ability to recommend corrective action and implement required repairs
• Basic welding skills: MIG, TIG, ARC, and Gas Welding will be considered an asset
• Forklift and rigging experience an asset
