Company Description

Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.

As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description

The Traffic Manager will have in-depth knowledge of the local GTA traffic requirements (i.e. by-laws, regulations, Applicable Law, practices, guidelines, manuals, standards, specifications, etc.) required for P3 heavy civil construction projects.

  • Managing a team to plan, coordinate, track, monitor, and implement traffic control operations while meeting strict construction start deadlines.
  • Identify early signs of risk to construction works schedule.
  • Responsible for development, modifications/updates, implementation, and management of Traffic and Transit Management Plans (TTMPs) and Traffic Control Plans (TCPs)
  • Responsible for coordination with others carrying out works is areas adjacent to the project.
  • Managing relationships with the Client, Governmental Authorities, and other Stakeholders.
  • Leading meetings with the Client, Government Authorities, and other Stakeholders.
  • Communicating both internally and externally regarding ongoing and upcoming traffic activities.
  • Ensuring the timing and organized delivery of public and Stakeholder communication information.
  • Coordinating with engineers, contractors, inspectors, the Client, Government Authorities, Stakeholders, and other relevant parties regarding traffic and transit management activities.
  • Assisting and providing inputs to support Permit, License, Approval and Agreement (PLAA) applications involving traffic controls.
  • Assisting and providing inputs to support claims or variations.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in delivery of large Heavy Civil and/or Transit & Rail Infrastructure construction projects.
  • Strong experience and in-depth knowledge of the local GTA traffic requirements (i.e. by-laws, regulations, Applicable Law, practices, guidelines, manuals, standards, specifications, etc.)
  • Prior experience working closely with Metrolinx, City Of Toronto (COT), and Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) is an asset
  • Post-Secondary education in an engineering and/or traffic related discipline is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office 365 software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficient in using Traffic Management/Control software (example: RapidPlan, RapidPath, AutoCAD, Microstation, etc.)
