This position requires frequent travel to the USA; candidates must hold Canadian citizenship or have the ability to work in the USA.
Job Description- Support the cost effective design and development of the company's vehicle programs
- Lead Technical Cost Reduction (TCR) efforts for assigned vehicle programs to ensure the achievement of corporate TCR targets
- Develop vehicle cost reduction strategies which engage all functions within the vehicle development process
- Manage the TCR database and provide executive reports for vehicle cost reduction status
- Develop and maintain vehicle work plans to achieve cost reduction change within the program management team and devise timely implementation through the change management process
- Facilitate vehicle idea generation events such as hoist reviews, teardowns, workshops, assembly plant walks, and down-select meetings
- Analyze technical vehicle engineering specifications and drive cost effective changes without negative impact on vehicle quality and performance
- Bachelor's degree (or foreign academic equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related, and 5 years of experience in job offered or a related position
- Experience in analyzing 3D models using Unigraphics NX from a technical cost perspective; experience in benchmarking system and component designs against competitors to reduce costs
- Collaborating cross-functionally on DFMEA and technical cost reduction opportunities
- Experience in developing and identifying technical cost reduction opportunities with the Vehicle Development Cycle
- Evaluate Total Cost Business Cases for project approval
- Analyze profitability against vehicle work plans to achieve cost reduction targets
