The Department of Education and Early Childhood Learning is looking to fill a Workforce Curriculum Consultant position within the Policy and Planning Branch in the Early Learning and Child Care Division.

Duties:
The Workforce Curriculum Consultant provides strategic leadership and subject matter expertise to support workforce development, training, certification, and qualification standards within Manitoba's early learning and child care sector. The position conducts research and analysis on post-secondary programming, credential recognition, and emerging sector priorities to inform policy, program, and certification decisions. The Consultant supports the Child Care Qualifications and Training Committee in fulfilling its statutory responsibilities; develops recommendations, resources, and guidance related to qualifications, certification, training pathways, and professional development; and collaborates with post-secondary institutions, regulatory bodies, sector stakeholders, and government partners to strengthen workforce capacity.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Post-secondary education in Early childhood education or a related field is preferred, along with extensive experience in early childhood learning. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • A sound understanding of a broad range of relevant and promising early childhood education theories, practises and assessments.
  • Knowledge and experience in curriculum development and implementation.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience leading projects.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present information and facilitate discussions with diverse audiences.
  • Excellent written communication skills with ability to create and edit various documents with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships, collaborate effectively in a team environment, and act with diplomacy and tact.
  • Excellent critical thinking and sound judgment skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the early childhood education environment, including Indigenous early childhood education, Truth and Reconciliation, and inclusive teaching practices.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must have or be eligible for a Manitoba Early Childhood Educator III certificate
  • Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's licence
