We are currently recruiting for the midnight shift, Sunday to Thursday from 11pm-730am.

Position Summary

The Industrial Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving electrical systems and equipment within a fast-paced meat processing/slaughter facility. This role ensures the reliable operation of production, refrigeration, packaging, and material handling equipment to minimize downtime and support operational efficiency. The successful candidate will diagnose electrical issues, perform preventive maintenance, support automation systems, and ensure compliance with all health, safety, electrical, and food safety regulations.

Key Accountabilities

• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and automated production equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and control system failures
• Install, maintain, and modify electrical systems, motors, drives, control panels, sensors, and instrumentation
• Diagnose and repair PLC-controlled equipment and automated production systems.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Conduct inspections and testing of electrical systems to ensure safe and reliable operation
• Support refrigeration, conveyor, packaging, processing, and material handling equipment
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and equipment failures to minimize production downtime
• Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and continuous improvement projects
• Ensure compliance with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and company safety policies
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders
• Work collaboratively with production, maintenance, sanitation, and quality assurance teams

Requirements

• Valid Ontario Industrial Electrician (442A) or Construction & Maintenance Electrician (309A) Certificate of Qualification
• Industrial manufacturing or food-processing experience preferred
• Experience with PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, sensors, and automated equipment
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Minimum 2 years’ experience
• Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Work in hot, cold, wet, humid, and refrigerated environments
• Lift and move heavy equipment and components up to 50lbs
• Work at heights, in confined spaces, or on elevated platforms when required
• Strong communication skills
• Must have own set of tools
