Overview of the role:
WestJet is seeking an Accounts Payable Coordinator. Reporting to the Manager, Accounts Payable, this role is responsible for managing the end-to-end accounts payable cycle for designated business units across WestJet.
Working within a strong internal control environment, the Accounts Payable Coordinator ensures all outgoing payments are processed accurately and in accordance with established policies and procedures. The role requires a high level of attention to detail to maintain data integrity, accurate financial records, and complete supporting documentation.
The successful candidate is a collaborative and goal-oriented team player who is committed to delivering exceptional service and contributing to individual, team, and company success.
Key deliverables include:
- Review, verify and process high volumes of invoices in a timely manner
- Processes invoices in compliance with finance policies and procedures
- Manage and resolve invoice exceptions or queries with suppliers and/or internal business partners
- Review and action AP aging, credit balances, refunds, and adjustments, and apply appropriate corrections
- Ensure a high rate of discount capture
- Manage high volumes of emails and maintain accurate file and documentation records
- Perform supplier statement reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
- Build effective relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Recommends process improvements to gain efficiency and reduce processing risk
- Be an active participant in related duties or ad-hoc projects as assigned (i.e., payment run)
Experience and qualifications:
- 2+ years full cycle Accounts Payable experience required
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and Canadian /Provincial Taxes
- Intermediate Microsoft Office knowledge and skills (O365, excel)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative skills to build strong, positive relationships with diverse groups
- First rate accuracy and attention to detail
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Strong analytical abilities
