Overview of role:

WestJet is seeking a Hyper Automation Lead to join our Analytics & Intelligence team. The Hyper Automation Lead provides strategic oversight for enterprise automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital transformation initiatives. This role is accountable for leading the Hyper Automation Centre of Excellence, establishing governance and best practices for automation, developing team capability, and partnering with business leaders to deliver innovative technology solutions that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and advance enterprise priorities.

Key deliverables include:

Lead the Hyper Automation Centre of Excellence by developing and executing the enterprise automation, AI, and digital transformation strategy, ensuring initiatives align with business priorities, technology standards, and organizational objectives while maximizing business value.

Partner with business leaders to identify, prioritize, and deliver automation, AI, analytics, and digital product opportunities, translating business challenges into scalable technology solutions that improve efficiency, customer experience, and operational performance.

Lead and develop a high-performing multidisciplinary team of Product Owners, Developers, Data Engineers, Analysts, and Solution Architects by providing coaching, performance management, resource planning, and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, continuous learning, and delivery excellence.

Oversee the enterprise portfolio of automation and AI initiatives by establishing governance frameworks, delivery standards, and Agile practices, while partnering with Enterprise Architecture to define and uphold technology standards that enable secure, scalable, and compliant solutions delivered on time, within budget, and with measurable business value.

Manage budgets, technology investments, and strategic vendor partnerships while fostering enterprise adoption of automation and AI through communities of practice, best practice development, capability building, and change management initiatives across the business.

Experience and qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.

Minimum 8 years of progressive experience leading technology, automation, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, analytics, or related functions.

Proven experience leading enterprise-scale automation initiatives and establishing governance frameworks, standards, and best practices for automation and digital transformation programs.

Demonstrated experience leveraging AI and intelligent automation capabilities to improve operational efficiency, enhance decision-making, and deliver measurable business outcomes.

Strong experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate, with the ability to drive enterprise adoption, governance, and solution delivery.

Experience evaluating, implementing, and optimizing low-code/no-code technologies, workflow automation tools, and business process management solutions.

Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary teams comprised of Product Owners, Developers, Data Engineers, Analysts, and Solution Architects.

Experience managing enterprise portfolios, budgets, vendor relationships, and strategic technology investments.

Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and product-based operating models.

Certification in Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, or equivalent) is considered an asset.

Microsoft Power Platform, Azure AI, automation, cloud, analytics, or product management certifications are considered assets.

Excellent strategic thinking, stakeholder management, communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills.

Proven ability to lead organizational change, build organizational capability, and drive adoption of new technologies across large and complex organizations.

Experience developing and supporting solutions using Microsoft Power Platform technologies, including Power Apps and Power Automate, is strongly preferred.
