Senior Project Engineer, Green Line

As a Senior Project Engineer, Technical, within the Green Line Business Unit, you will provide technical support and expertise to ensure the successful design, execution, and delivery of Green Line LRT works, including but not limited to, LRT systems, utility, grading, structures, roadworks, stormwater management, urban landscaping, business unit coordination, interface management, construction support, permits, agreements, and other works.

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will support and collaborate with the designers, delivery partners, external parties, and internal teams.

You will be working in a team environment focused on achieving great city-building outcomes, and working in complex, non-standard urban environments is the norm. Primary duties include:

• Support technical design development and coordination of Green Line infrastructure, systems, and multidisciplinary deliverables.
• Provide technical engineering oversight to ensure designs meet project requirements, safety standards, regulatory requirements, and The City's expectations.
• Coordinate across civil, structural, track, systems, architecture, utilities, and operations parties to achieve integrated design solutions.
• Manage design scope, technical risks, interfaces, and change management.
• Review and/or approve engineering calculations, design packages, technical reports, drawings, specifications, and construction support documentation.
• Support planning, scheduling, cost management, and quality assurance activities associated with project design and execution.
• Serve as a key technical liaison between The City, Business Units, partner organizations, contractors, consultants, and internal project teams.
• Facilitate technical reviews, design workshops, value engineering initiatives, and constructability assessments to optimize project outcomes.
• Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.
• Support procurement, contract administration, testing and commissioning, and issue resolution throughout project delivery.
• Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, Calgary Transit requirements, environmental commitments, and safety management processes.

• Contribute to strategic planning, innovation initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts within the Technical Design team.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering, or a related Engineering field, and at least 4 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work. • Knowledge of project or design engineering standards within a government or consulting environment is required.
• Experience in construction and contract management is considered an asset.
• You have effective communication and presentation skills, project management skills, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a high-pressure environment.
• Success in this position requires strong analytical, business planning and organizational effectiveness skills; the ability to lead and coordinate several strategic objectives; and the ability to balance technical requirements with nontechnical competing priorities.
