As a Junior Business Analyst in Treasury, you will be working at the intersection of investment management, cash forecasting, debt management, treasury operations, financial strategy, and system transformation. You will gain an understanding of the financial products available to municipalities with Treasury's role as the interface between the corporation and all external financial providers, including but not limited to the capital markets, investment managers, banks, payment providers, government agencies and other third-party institutions providing funding and financing. Working with multi-disciplinary teams, you will apply financial acumen, financial modelling, data entry and analysis, and presentation skills to inform the decision-making process in Treasury. Primary duties include:

  • Conduct research and analysis to aid portfolio managers and senior investment analysts in the investment decision-making process.
  • Examine risks, policies and controls in alignment with the financial risk governance and performance security management activities in Treasury.
  • Research, analyze and evaluate sources of funding and financing and decisions affecting The City's capital structure for various types of infrastructure.
  • Input data into systems and maintain internal reports, dashboards and presentations on key Treasury activities. Monitor risks, trends, and performance metrics and assist with internal and external reporting.
  • Research, analyze and prepare information to support the process of issuing debt in the debt capital markets and investor relations program at The City.
  • Conduct basic analysis to support cash forecasting, liquidity management, banking operations, enterprise payments solutions, Treasury controls, reporting and reconciliation activities.
  • Assist in the examination and analysis of risks and controls related to The City's loan and loan guarantee program for wholly owned subsidiaries and non-profit organizations.
  • Assist with other operational requirements, process improvements and ad hoc initiatives of the Treasury division.

Qualifications

  • A High School diploma or equivalency (for example: GED) and 3 - 6 courses recognized by Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA).
  • Preference will be given to candidate with 2 years of post-secondary education with a major in Business, Accounting or a related field.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Previous experience and/or working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform tools, Bloomberg, Refinitiv Eikon, Peoplesoft Financial & Supply Chain Management (FSCM), Hyperion, and Kyriba will be considered as assets.
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and communicate policies, a high attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
