As a Business Liaison with Emergency Management & Community Safety (EMCS), you will provide administrative and operational support to Community Peace Officers, Sergeants, Inspectors, and Animal Services staff. Primary duties include:
- Mail legal notices issued by Community Peace Officers to registered property owners, including Written Warning Notices, Municipal Government Act Orders, Notices of Corrective Action, and Advisory Notices.
- Coordinate with contractors performing work on behalf of Community Safety, review photos and invoices, and submit payments to Accounts Payable.
- Submit billing using C-Bar sheets to Accounts Receivable and assist Collections in resolving billing discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit Accounts Receivable reports, accruals, and financial documentation to Finance.
- Review and complete service requests, including invoice reviews, noise exemption permits, publication requests, and requests for information.
- Review permit and licence applications and program requests; prepare related correspondence, including approval and denial letters; correspond with applicants; and provide reporting.
- Process citizen applications for the graffiti abatement program, update graffiti service requests, redirect requests to other business units as required, liaise with program partners and contractors, and send daily work reports.
- Maintain records management systems, including electronic and paper filing, records retention, and document administration.
- Order office supplies for Community Safety and Animal Services.
- Coordinate with vendors for form updates and printing services.
Qualifications
- A completed certificate in Business Administration, Business Management, Office Administration or a related program and at least 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in areas such as operations support, conflict management, relationship building, customer service or records management, OR;
- A completed diploma in Business Administration, Business Management, Office Administration or a related program and at least 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in areas such as operations support, conflict management, relationship building, customer service or records management.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
- Working knowledge of the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA) and Access to Information Act (ATIA).
- Experience using PeopleSoft, Chameleon, Motorola Customer Service Request software (311), Public One Stop Service Experience (POSSE), Corporate Registries System (CORES), SPIN 2 (Land Titles), COOLWEB and Content Server.
- Courses or certification in conflict resolution.
- The ability to work independently, manage a high volume of work, and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to build and maintain positive, sustainable working relationships.

- Compensation: Pay Grade 8 $39.00 - 52.14 per hour
- Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.
- Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
