Structural Concrete Infrastructure Planning Engineer - Sidewalk

As a Structural Concrete Infrastructure Planning Engineer, will be responsible for the development and implementation of concrete rehabilitation and maintenance strategies for concrete sidewalk, cubs & gutter and related pedestrian infrastructure to achieve City's technical and customer level of service. You will manage concrete engineering inspection program, condition assessment and lifecycle plan. You will also support the development and implementation of the concrete management plans for the annual concrete rehabilitation program and other concrete maintenance programs. Primary duties include:

• Leverage data analytics and powerful GIS-centric workflows to identify at-risk assets and schedule preventative maintenance and replacements to improve asset performance
• Analyze available data pertaining to the concrete assets classes to determine optimized plan for future operations, growth, renewal and replacement, and innovation.
• Develop and monitor annual concrete rehabilitation programs for reconstruction / rehabilitation / preventive maintenance of roads concrete assets.
• Contribute to the preparation of long-range infrastructure plans, servicing studies and operational plans, including further development of risk modelling, levels of service and strategic plans.
• Manage future concrete assets condition assessment leveraging emerging technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Provide engineering advice when reviewing concrete structural and materials design of lifecycle replacements and new assets.

• Manage the concrete inventory and condition records, as well as the concrete asset management application, with a commitment to data integrity and quality control.

• Responsible for prioritizing concrete locations and conduct comprehensive inspections and contribute to the determination of annual concrete rehabilitation sites.
• Build and foster networks and relationships with internal technical experts, operations staff, other business units, and key partners across the City.
• Assist in budget planning, preparation of business cases and other project management duties.
• Generate and compile detailed technical briefs, memoranda, reports, and presentations.

Qualifications

• A degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering field.
• You must have at least 4 years of experience in a Construction or project management of infrastructure projects obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work Click here for more details.
• A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than six demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending is required.
• Previous experience in concrete sidewalk engineering, concrete deterioration model / analysis, inspection and data collection, project management and Arc GIS would be considered an asset.
• Exhibited robust competencies in analytical reasoning, cooperative engagement and fostering of interpersonal connections, client-centered service, effective discourse, and a constructive outlook.

• This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. Such arrangements are based on the operational requirements of the position and employee suitability and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
