As a Customer Service Representative, you will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to your clients and manage a range of transactions, while working in a fast-paced environment. Primary duties include:

  • Customer Focus: Respond to customer inquiries, requests and complaints regarding recreation services both in person and over the telephone.
  • Conduct facility tours for new and potential customers.
  • Technical Knowledge and Skills: Accept various payment methods for admissions, program registrations, pass sales, bookings and rentals for the leisure centre using our software system.
  • Process financial transactions, prepare bank deposits and complete cash reconciliation.
  • Safety and Facility Work: Perform lifting and carrying demands for tasks such as setting up and taking down tables and chairs, storage of equipment for public use, parties, bookings and programs.
  • Clean program rooms as required.
  • Provide basic first aid as required and support emergency response.
  • Monitor recreation services activity areas to ensure rules and regulations are followed and a safe environment is maintained.
  • This position supports an operation that is open 7 days a week with extended operating hours. Successful candidates must be flexible and available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Qualifications

  • A High School diploma or equivalency (e.g. GED).
  • At least 1 year of experience in a fast-paced customer service environment.
  • Current Intermediate First Aid certification (equivalent to Standard First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) level "C", and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)) is required.
  • Experience in cash handling is required.
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Training would be considered an asset.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills which demonstrate tact and courtesy when dealing with the public.
  • You have effective communication skills and well-developed decision-making skills.
  • You are a proven team player and have the ability to work independently.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • A security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Position and Pay Information

  • Business Unit: Recreation and Social Programs
  • Union: CUPE Local 38
  • Position Type: 6 Temporary Part-Time (up to 15 months)
  • Compensation: Pay Grade 5 $32.29 - 43.16 per hour
  • Hours of work: Up to 19-hours work week.
  • Days of work: Daytime, evening and weekend shifts.
