As a Yoga or Pilates Instructor, you will be responsible for planning and leading registered and/or drop-in fitness programs. Primary duties include:

  • Teach specific skills to participants through progressive physical fitness development and sharing of knowledge.
  • Develop the design, plan, and resources for the program.
  • Assess participant needs and provide adaptations as necessary.
  • Ensure safety of participants.
  • Prepare and maintain equipment, supplies, and program space.
  • Maintain program records and assist with program evaluation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • Yoga Alliance or recognized Yoga Certificate with a minimum of 200 hours of Yoga training; OR
  • A minimum in Basic Mat Pilates training and 20 hours of practical teaching.
  • Previous leadership and instructional expertise in yoga or Pilates.
  • Level 2 Yoga Instructors require extensive leadership and instructional expertise in discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability in assessing participant needs and determining adaptations as necessary.
  • Strong communication skills along with demonstrated initiative, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Sound judgment in safety standards and well-developed customer service skills.

Pre-employment Requirements

  • Current Intermediate First Aid certification (equivalent to Standard First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) level "C", and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)) is required.
  • A valid Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Search must be provided. Date of completion must be within the last 12 months.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
  • Applicants may be contacted, interviewed and hired throughout the duration of this competition.

  • Compensation: Instructor Level 1 $33.57 - 41.96 per hour
  • Instructor Level 2 $37.76 - 48.26 per hour (2026 Rates)
  • Hours of work: This position works on-call hours based on operational requirements.
  • Days of work: This position typically works various days including daytime, evenings, and weekends.
