Are you passionate about connecting talented people with meaningful careers? Do you excel in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same? If so, we want to hear from you! As a Recruitment Consultant with the City of Edmonton, you will play a vital role in building a skilled, diverse workforce that shapes our city's future. Leveraging your expertise in talent acquisition and experience in a unionized environment, you will deliver exceptional consulting support to hiring managers, supervisors, and employees—helping build a thriving municipality with new opportunities for everyone.

What will you do?

  • Independently lead the full-cycle recruitment process across complex, multi-union environments, consistently meeting or exceeding established time-to-fill metrics and service level agreements.
  • Serve as a trusted recruitment partner and Subject Matter Expert to senior leaders, offering strategic talent insights, market intelligence, and customized hiring solutions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Design and execute multi-channel candidate sourcing strategies that drive a continuous, high-quality pipeline of diverse, qualified talent for hard-to-fill and high-volume roles.
  • Successfully manage and prioritize a dynamic requisition load of 30+ concurrent open recruitment projects without compromising quality, candidate experience, or timelines.
  • Partner with multidisciplinary HR teams—including Total Rewards, Labour Relations, and Organizational Development—to deliver integrated workforce solutions and resolve complex client portfolio challenges.
  • Interpret, apply, and advise hiring managers on complex collective agreement terms, clauses, and selection criteria to ensure compliant, transparent, and defensible hiring practices.
  • Direct-liaise with Union Business Agents to proactively resolve selection disputes, negotiate posting waivers, and gain alignment on candidate assessment tools and recruitment procedures.
  • Identify operational bottlenecks and lead continuous process improvement initiatives to streamline hiring workflows, reduce cycle times, and enhance candidate and hiring manager satisfaction.
  • Adapt flexibly to shifting organizational needs by taking ownership of special projects and strategic HR initiatives as required.
