Seasonal Labourer II - Cemeteries (Winter)

As a Labourer II, you will ensure proper maintenance and beautification of municipal cemeteries and traditional burial grounds while providing exceptional customer service to patrons and guests. Your ability to work with minimal supervision in a changing, sensitive environment will contribute to the success of City service delivery and operational goals. What will you do? - Interact with the public in a professional manner, especially in sensitive situations - Accommodate various cultural group traditions including pall bearing for casket services - Operate and complete minor maintenance on equipment - Operate hand tools such as planners, power saw/drills and bull float - Dig and locate graves, make frames, mix concrete and install monuments/headstones - Read surveyed grades and design blueprints, ensuring accurate locating of construction points - Perform interments and disinterments which include the removing, handling and transporting of human remains - Assist with all site maintenance activities which includes snow removal with various equipment/tools, and beautification of cemetery properties - Construct forms, mix concrete, install grave markers and fine finish edges around grave markers - Locate grave locations without clear reference points in surveyed and unsurveyed cemeteries - Perform related work as required
