At the City of Edmonton, we are redefining workplace injury management. We are seeking a high-performancing Workplace Injury Advisor who operates with urgency to effectively manage claim durations, minimize organizational impact, and deliver elite-level case strategy. In this position, you will lead the end-to-end management of occupational injury and illness claims, partnering with employees, leaders, unions, healthcare providers, and the Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) to support safe, timely, and sustainable return-to-work outcomes. You will apply your expertise in disability management, legislation, and case strategy to navigate complex situations, influence decisions, and balance employee well-being with operational needs. As a Workplace Injury Advisor, you are a strategic consultant tasked with disrupting the status quo of injury management. We are looking for a professional who thrives on "moving the needle"—someone who views every claim as a challenge to optimize recovery while protecting the organization’s operational continuity. If you have honed your skills in the fast-paced, results-driven private sector and are ready to apply that rigor to a complex municipal environment, we want to hear from you. What will you do? - Lead the management of WCB claims from intake through resolution, including strategy development, monitoring, and coordination with key partners - Develop and implement individualized return-to-work and accommodation plans aligned with medical restrictions and operational needs - Collaborate with WCB, healthcare providers, leaders, and unions to support effective and timely claim progression - Apply an inclusive, equity-informed approach to case management, recognizing and addressing barriers that may impact recovery and return-to-work outcomes - Provide expert advice to leaders on workplace injury management, Duty to Accommodate, and complex case scenarios - Identify and address barriers to recovery, including coordinating medical assessments and workplace adjustments - Analyze claim trends and provide recommendations to support improved outcomes and reduce injury-related impacts - Ensure compliance with applicable legislation, collective agreements, and corporate policies
