The Community Standards Branch focuses on cultivating relationships and providing services to maintain safe, healthy, vibrant, inclusive, clean, and connected urban environments. Operating within the Logistics and Business Support Section, the Policy Analyst reports to the Policy Team Lead. This role focuses on policy drafting, research, and continuous improvement while balancing public and Community partners needs. Key responsibilities include advancing branch action plans, evaluating strategic initiatives, and collaborating with internal and external Community partners on priorities such as the Peace Officer and enforcement programs, the Community Safety and Well-Being Strategy, the Indigenous Framework, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and the 30x30 initiative. The branch is currently adopting a strategic, intentional, and thoughtful approach to its operations, particularly regarding enforcement practices within an increasingly complex environment. What will you do? - Develop, write, review and modernize branch policy and procedures, including maintenance of an inventory and update schedule - Provide input into the development of corporate methodologies, templates, and tools for continuous improvement, project and initiatives - Collaborate with internal and external Community partners to advance the implementation of the Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) recommendations and anti-racism work - Support ongoing consulting, training, implementation and the evaluation of GBA+ in the Community Standards Branch with enforcement practices - Liaise with the corporate Diversity and Inclusion team to align work with corporate priorities and approaches - Liaise with other City departments and branches to remain current on information and emerging issues to inform and update materials, identify trends, and recommend actions based on information gleaned - Develop, implement, and measure project performance management framework(s) for long-term evaluation and improvement - Work with corporate, department and branch Community partners to identify and prioritize annual projects/initiatives to advance services - Facilitate and support the branch by integrating corporate and branch initiatives into the strategic and business planning processes, resulting in developing and maintaining strategic plans and initiatives, ensuring alignment with department and corporate plans and strategies - Develop and monitor data and evaluation frameworks when applicable to projects and work of the branch, including proficiency in evaluation from a worldview, learning and implementing decolonized approaches to research and evaluation - Support and align continuous improvement projects in multiple branches with varying roles across a diverse group of Community partners through influence - Support and implement the development of performance monitoring tools with limited support - Managing and balancing multiple competing priorities - Working with extended leadership teams and ensuring their needs/expectations are met
