Reporting to the Vice President, the Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall execution of one or numerous projects in a safe and profitable manner, ensuring consistency with the company strategy, and commitment to goals. The Senior Project Manager position is also expected to be routinely engaged in the project tendering pursuits and development of bid and execution strategies. The position will also act as the key representative of Aecon Foundations in relevant Joint Ventures and business development initiatives.
What You'll Do Here:
- Ensure projects are executed in a manner that meets all Aecon Health Safety and Environmental standards.
- Lead the implementation of effective Project Management processes as supported by the Pre-Construction Manager and Project Controls Manager.
- Responsible for ensuring all projects have acceptable contracts / agreements in place in advance of the commencement of work.
- Ensure compliance with change management protocols as required by client. Track and report all change activities and notify management of risks.
- Ensure suitable project reporting including a monthly report which overviews HSE, cost, margin, risks and opportunities.
- Prepare monthly financial forecast updates including completion of requisite analysis and reporting.
- Oversee project invoicing process, track payments and monitor cashflow.
- Oversee project margin performance and take action as required to mitigate erosion.
- Manage the crews, sub-contractors, and all other resources in order to complete the job.
- Prepare work schedules and coordinate project staff.
- Identify market opportunities and recommend pursuits.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external clients.
- Ensure suitable EHS and Quality Control plans are established for all Projects and adhered to by the project team.
- Lead and support Aecon’s Health, Safety and Environmental Protection Program. Ensure compliance with incident reporting and personnel training and competency requirements.
- Act as a visible leader aligned with Aecon’s Core Values.
- Performs such other duties and responsibilities as assigned by his/her supervisor/manager
What You Bring to the Table:
- Civil Engineering Degree or Diploma / or equivalent training and experience
- Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation is an asset.
- 10 + years of combined civil construction experience in a Project Management role
- Experience in the foundation industry is an asset.
- Experience managing projects ranging between $.5 million to $20 million plus.
- Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and documents
- Strong communication skills – oral and written
- Self-motivated with good organizational skills
- Ability to work with others as a team
- Valid driver’s license
