Aecon Energy Solutions (AESI) is a strategic business unit within Aecon Utilities Inc., delivering end-to-end services that support the construction, maintenance, and modernization of critical energy infrastructure across North America. The team specializes in utilities, oil & gas, industrial, and renewable energy projects, partnering with clients to safely and efficiently execute complex work in both regulated and competitive environments.
Aecon is seeking a site-based Project Coordinator / Quality to support the delivery of civil construction work, including underground duct bank installation, trenchless crossings, substation civil works, concrete foundations, and earthworks. This combined role supports day-to-day project coordination and administration while owning field quality activities under the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring work is executed to approved drawings, specifications, procedures, and client standards.
What You'll Do Here:
Project Coordination
- Support the project team with daily field reporting, progress tracking, and production reporting.
- Coordinate RFIs, submittals, drawing revisions, and site instructions with engineering and the client.
- Assist with schedule updates, look-ahead planning, and quantity tracking.
- Support change management, including documenting delays, extra work, and backup for change requests.
- Coordinate material deliveries, warehouse/inventory tracking, and subcontractor scheduling.
- Prepare weekly progress reports and meeting minutes for internal and client distribution.
Quality
- Coordinate site inspection and audit activities, including hold points, witness points, and client inspections.
- Verify field work conforms to IFC drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Maintain inspection and test records, quality documentation, and project turnover packages.
- Identify, document, and track non-conformances and corrective actions to closure.
- Control field documents to ensure only current revisions are in use.
- Coordinate third-party testing, including concrete, compaction, and materials testing.
- Monitor and report on quality performance and support continuous improvement initiatives.
What You Bring to the Team:
- 3+ years of coordination and/or quality experience on civil, utility, or heavy construction projects.
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or equivalent field experience preferred but not necessary.
- Working knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001 or equivalent).
- Experience with inspection and test plans, non-conformance reporting, and turnover documentation.
- Familiarity with utility construction standards considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and proven teamwork on active construction sites.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with document control and project reporting platforms.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and ability to work full-time on active construction sites in BC.

The expected salary for this position is $50,000 - $70,000 per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors such as work location, education, experience and unique skills
