A career as a Regional Vice-President (RVP), Equipment Finance Sales, Western Canada at National Bank is an opportunity to lead the regional Vendor Sales and Direct Sales channels as one coordinated sales organization. In this role, you will establish and execute the regional growth strategy, strengthen relationships with equipment vendors and business clients, and lead teams accountable for profitable origination, client acquisition and portfolio development. You will work closely with Commercial Banking & 1859 and Equipment Finance partners to deliver sound financing solutions while managing credit, operational and regulatory risk within the Bank's established frameworks.

Your role:

  • Define and execute an integrated regional strategy for Vendor Sales and Direct Sales, translating business priorities into clear market coverage, growth plans and performance expectations.
  • Lead the achievement of regional revenue, volume, profitability, client acquisition, vendor relationship and referral objectives across both sales channels.
  • Guide leaders and sales professionals in developing new business, deepening vendor and client relationships, and building a balanced pipeline across equipment sectors, client segments and geographic markets.
  • Create clear accountability through business plans, budgets, forecasts, activity measures and performance reporting, and take timely action when results or market conditions require adjustment.
  • Promote disciplined pricing and deal structuring, balancing growth, client value and return expectations within delegated authorities and established approval processes.
  • Maintain a strong market presence by being active in the field with clients, vendors, centres of influence and regional partners, while working closely with other market leaders to identify growth opportunities, strengthen referral networks and represent Equipment Finance consistently across the assigned region.
  • Work in partnership with Credit, Operations, Risk and other internal specialists to support efficient execution, appropriate risk management and a consistent client and partner experience from origination through funding.
  • Strengthen collaboration between Vendor Sales, Direct Sales and Commercial Banking by developing referral routines, clarifying accountabilities and connecting clients to broader Bank capabilities when appropriate.
  • Build and maintain senior relationships with important vendors, clients, centres of influence and industry stakeholders, and represent National Bank Equipment Finance in the regional marketplace.
  • Lead, coach and develop regional sales leaders and team members, establishing a high-performance, inclusive and accountable culture focused on client outcomes, collaboration and sustainable growth.
  • Lead change initiatives affecting the regional sales model, including process, technology, coverage, talent and operating-model improvements.
  • Manage the region's sales resources and expenses within approved budgets and ensure adherence to Bank policies, conduct expectations, compliance requirements and risk controls.

Your team:

You are part of the Equipment Finance and Commercial Banking leadership network and collaborate closely with colleagues in Credit, Operations, Risk, Product, Finance, Human Resources and other specialized groups. The role provides leadership across the Vendor Sales and Direct Sales teams in its assigned region.

This role is based in Western Canada.

Required skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, commerce or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and senior leadership experience.
  • Extensive experience in commercial sales, business development and people leadership within equipment finance, commercial lending, leasing or a related financial services environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple sales channels or teams and translate strategy into measurable regional results.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial credit, equipment finance structures, pricing, portfolio economics and risk-management expectations.
  • Previous experience in Equipment Finance, including direct exposure to equipment lending, leasing, vendor programs or related financing structures.
  • Proven ability to build senior relationships, negotiate complex opportunities and influence across business lines and functional teams.
  • Experience establishing sales plans, budgets, forecasts, performance measures and accountability routines.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, talent-development and change-management capabilities.
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead high-performing teams, develop talent and build leadership capability through coaching, feedback and clear performance expectations.
  • Strong presence working with senior leadership, with the ability to present, influence and translate complex business information into clear, compelling stories for varied audiences.
  • Sound judgment, executive communication skills and the ability to make timely decisions in a complex, evolving environment.
  • Ability to travel within the assigned region and occasionally elsewhere in Canada, as business needs require.
