What You'll Do:
  • Collaboratively manage underground mine production, rehab, and service crew activities in concert with the maintenance department to minimize unscheduled downtime.
  • Integrate engineering, planning, and operational aspects of the work to meet (or exceed) production targets while maintaining full compliance with safety, health and environmental standards, budgets, and labor parameters.
  • Manage, track, and report on costs (daily, weekly, and monthly).
  • Administer safety programs, including compliance checks, life-critical audits, area inspections, and job observations.
  • Ensure compliance with all Corporate and Divisional goals related to performance metrics, safety systems, and operational excellence.
  • Monitor and audit delays to effectively and efficiently support operations planning.
  • Establish and monitor shutdown planning, compliance, and critical task identification.
  • Contribute to the development of short-, medium-, and long-range plans, with a focus on borer sequencing and utilization.
  • Manage service providers, budgets, and make appropriate adjustments to production and construction activities.
  • Lead automation teams to advance automation initiatives and improve utilization of new technologies.
  • Lead continuous improvement teams supporting mine operations, mine maintenance, and mine engineering through the evaluation of new technologies and business practices.
  • Work with the training team to enhance training programs.
  • Support training personnel on safe work practices and monitor compliance to ensure practices are followed.
  • Conduct performance reviews of mine operations personnel.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to direct reports and others, fostering leadership development.
  • Encourage and maintain two-way communication with direct reports to increase employee engagement.
  • Actively administer labor relations by establishing and maintaining strong relationships with union leadership.
What You'll Bring:
  • A degree in an applicable engineering/geoscience discipline and eligibility to practice as a Professional Engineer or Geoscientist in Saskatchewan is considered an asset; equivalent education or experience in a related field will also be considered
  • 5+ years of experience in an operations management position
  • 10+ years experience within a large mining operation site (open pit, surface, or underground)
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety
  • Proven to work productively with others
  • Promotes and maintains a healthy and positive work environment
  • Proven ability to lead for maximum results
  • Strong technical knowledge of mining and an understanding of mining operations as a whole
  • Knowledge of technological advancements in the mining sector
