From strategic communications and issues management to correspondence, digital communications, and social media, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to the full spectrum of communications activities within the Ministry of Francophone Affairs' small but mighty communications team. As part of a friendly and supportive team, you'll collaborate closely with colleagues, embrace changing priorities, and help deliver high-quality communications products in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. About the jobIn this role, you will:
• draft a wide range of ministerial communications, including speeches, questions and answer documents, punchy social media messages, correspondence, and the annual report.
• manage the MFA web site, including developing content and design
• handle media relations and monitoring
• develop strategic communication plans, issues management plans and stakeholder relations plans What you bring to the team
Mandatory requirements• You must possess oral and written French language skills at the superior level. Your proficiency level will be evaluated before hire
Communications knowledge and skills• You have demonstrated experience developing attention-grabbing speeches and social media messages, that consider the audience, weave in key messages, communication objectives and maintain a consistency of tone appropriate for the speaker and medium.
• Your strong writing skills allow you to express complex ideas in clear and concise language when drafting speeches, news releases, statements, issue notes or other communication products
• You have good judgement to determine which style and tone is appropriate in writing materials and what information is to be included or excluded.
• You have strong oral communication skills in French and English to respond to enquiries from the media and the public, develop plain language responses, and serve an effective liaison with members of the media.
Analytical, and strategic planning skills:• You have sound analytical skills to assess communication requirements for target audiences, carry out the necessary research and develop the required communication products to meet objectives
• You have the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
• You can adapt to shifting deadlines and changes in direction, with a learning mindset.
Specialized knowledge and technical skills:• You demonstrate knowledge of Ontario's Francophone community, culture, concerns, issues and organizations
• You can maintain the ministry's Internet and Intranet sites and serve as a web editor.
• You demonstrate strong Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with colleagues and ministry partners.
