POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto Scarborough (UTSC) invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in the area of Clinical Psychology. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Candidates must have earned a PhD degree in Clinical Psychology from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), American Psychological Association (APA), or an equivalently accredited clinical psychology program by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter, and conduct research in adult and/or emerging adult populations, with a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching in Clinical Psychology. The candidate must also be eligible for registration or currently registered with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths in Clinical Psychology. Particular consideration will be given to candidates whose research incorporates functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) methodologies, as well as electroencephalography (EEG).
Candidates must provide evidence of excellence in research, which can be demonstrated through a record of publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals or forthcoming publications that meet high international standards; the submitted research statement; presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, and strong endorsements from referees.
Evidence of excellence in teaching will be demonstrated through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier (including the required materials outlined below, as well as evidence of superior performance in other teaching-related activities), and strong letters of reference. Other teaching-related activities can include performance as a teaching assistant or course instructor, experience leading successful workshops or seminars, student mentorship, or excellent conference presentations or posters, or clinical teaching, supervision, or mentorship of trainees in applied or clinical settings.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research at the highest international level and to establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program.
In addition, the successful candidate will be assigned a teaching and service load. They must also provide evidence of readiness as a research supervisor, as they will be expected to undertake undergraduate and graduate research supervision and teaching, and to perform standard professional and administrative activities typical of a research-intensive university-level department.

HIRING SALARY RANGE
The expected salary range is $140K to $170K CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond this salary range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
ABOUT US
As part of University of Toronto's tri-campus structure, the University of Toronto Scarborough offers the opportunity to conduct research, teach, and live in one of the most diverse cities of the world. The successful candidate will be a member of the Department of Psychology at UTSC, which includes faculty members with interests in clinical, developmental, social, cognitive, and behavioral neuroscience. The successful candidate will also be affiliated with the Graduate Department of Psychological Clinical Science, which is housed within the Department of Psychology at UTSC and offers a CPA-accredited MA/PhD program in Clinical Psychology, grounded in the clinical science model. The program integrates scientific research with clinical practice. It fosters a rigorous and supportive training environment focused on evidence-based practice, interpersonal and metacognitive competencies, and collaborative clinical education.
The successful candidate will benefit from access to outstanding research infrastructure within the newly opened Myron and Berna Garron Health Sciences Complex, home to the Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health (SAMIH). As part of the Department's strategic investments in neuroscience and mental health research, researchers have access to state-of-the-art neuroimaging and electrophysiological research facilities, including advanced fMRI and EEG infrastructure. Applicants whose research programs incorporate neuroimaging methodologies are particularly well positioned to take advantage of these resources and the opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration they support.
