about this team

The Graphic Designer role sits within the Prints and Graphics organization. Our goal is to elevate the lululemon product with a focus on the art and design of graphics to create a compelling guest experience. This team will drive graphic excellence, consistency and energy through the connection of design, story-telling and development.

core responsibilities

  • Research and stay informed of relevant global cultural and aesthetic trends, and global guest preferences. Analyze how graphic design trends, finishes and colours emerge and influence your product category.
  • Create graphic designs from seasonal, technical and branding graphics in accordance with research, brand identity and in fulfillment of the creative brief. Create sketches and use relevant programs as required. Present sketches to Design leaders and internal teams.
  • Select elevated techniques, finishes and trims from the Graphic Design and Trims library for your styles.
  • Apply colour and graphics to the assortment, inclusive of new, core and carryover styles, in consideration of feasibility, known limitations and commercial viability.
  • Present coloured up sketches to cross-functional partners for sketch review sign off. Cleary communicate its alignment to the brief and the sources of inspiration and references for your design.
  • Complete graphic design techpacks detailing graphics applications, placements and sizes. Handover the tech sketches to PD/TD and collaborate with technical developers to ensure accuracy and commercial feasibility.
  • Identify opportunities for improvements and make recommendations for necessary adjustments of graphic designs.
  • Present physical prototypes of on-body garments to cross functional partners to prepare for commercial sign-off at proto review.
  • Partner with the Prints, Art Direction and Creative Direction teams to help bring graphics assortments and events to life through a cohesive and creative lens.
  • Work in collaboration with Design and Product Development partners to understand the full context of the briefs, assortments and stories while bringing graphic design to life from the start of a season to the finish.
  • Lead in making seasonal creative direction tangible through research and graphic design while exploring R&D applications through vendors and development partners.
  • In partnership with the Graphic Design team, become a mentor and model to emerging designers in setting up a team culture beaming of innovative ideas, collaboration and continued growth.

qualifications

  • 4+ years of industry experience
  • BA, BFA or BS in Graphic Design required (or equivalent)
  • Excellent proficiency in Adobe Suite (In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop)
  • Proficient in Generative tools as required (Midjourney, ChatGPT)
  • Design Skills - To creatively conceptualize, design and construct garments that are aesthetically pleasing, functional and commercially viable, using a blend of artistic vision, technical expertise and industry knowledge
  • Communication - Clearly articulate design ideas and concepts to the team, stakeholders and cross functional partners, both verbally and visually. It also involves listening and incorporating feedback
  • Aesthetic Intelligence - Understand and appreciate the nuances of design. It involves an understanding of beauty and style to create designs that are visually pleasing and resonate with the target audience. It involves a deep understanding of the Brand's aesthetic and the ability to produce designs that align with the brand's vision and guests
  • Innovative Thinking - Generate new ideas, processes and solutions that push the boundaries of product creation. It involves thinking outside of the box to produce fresh, innovative ideas
  • Global market Understanding and Brand Alignment - Translate global fashion trends and consumer behavior into designs that align and enhance brand's identity and reputation

compensation and benefits package

lululemon's compensation offerings are grounded in a pay-for-performance philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. The typical hiring range for this position is from $104,600-137,300 CAD annually; the base pay offered is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
