Description
You are an experienced Foreperson or General Foreperson for Powerline Construction who supports the construction and installation of overhead transmission and distribution lines. You will support the construction of lattice towers, steel and wood h-frames, single wood poles, and stringing various conductor sizes. Essential Responsibilities:
- Lead crews in the construction of overhead transmission lines.
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools and equipment including bucket trucks, backhoes, digger derrick trucks, all-terrain track machines, pullers, tensioners, etc.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, work plans, and schematics.
- Track daily production, material usage, and support logistics and crew coordination.
- Follow and promote strict safety practices, adhering to all OH&S standards.
- Train and support junior workers or apprentices on proper work practices.
- Perform additional tasks related to line construction and maintenance as required.
Qualifications:
- Must have valid Journeyperson Powerline Technician certification
- Previous experience leading a crew of PLTs.
- 5+ years of experience as journeyman PLT.
- Ability to climb poles using spikes and rigging and to work from bucket trucks or man-lifts.
- Strong knowledge of transmission line construction methods, tools, and safety procedures. Distribution experience a benefit also.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
- Class 5 driver's license required: Class 1 or 3 preferred. Able and willing to provide an acceptable five (5) year Driver's Abstract.
- Physically able to work at heights, lift heavy materials, and work in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Work Conditions:
- 14 days on (or 21 if requested), 7 days off, working 11.5 hour days.
- Overtime rates apply after 8 hours worked per day and 40 hours per week.
