What You'll Do:- Act as part of a team that is responsible for providing financial and operations accounting expertise to support plant accounting functions
- Day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department with major emphasis on completion of month-end procedures including preparation of journal entries, analyzing financials, and communicating the results to management and various stakeholders
- Become a subject matter expert for processes included in your role, which may include complex agreements
- Complete and improve month-end close processes
- Participate in policy alignment initiatives and implementation
- Raw material and finished product cost accounting
- Understand, identify, and implement required internal controls, including certification reporting, audit responses, and SOX controls
- Participate in the physical asset and product inventory verification process
- Ensure balance sheet accounts are effectively analyzed and managed
- Provide oversight of capital project and asset accounting, including project approvals, assisting with project setup, asset verifications, and property tax reporting
- Prepare moderate- and high-risk account reconciliations and journal entries
- Perform other related duties as required
- An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related field, with a professional accounting designation or working towards
- 6+ years of experience
- Experience working in a plant environment is preferred
- Strong working knowledge of Accounting/financial concepts and principles
- Understanding of GAAP/IFRS applications in a business environment
- Experience with large ERP systems, preferably SAP or Oracle
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment as well as independently
- Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data base tools such as Power Query
- Strong communications and collaboration skills along with interpersonal awareness
