Reporting to the Pipefitting/Welding Supervisor, the Pipefitter Technician is responsible for the day-to-day safe and efficient execution of preventative, routine, and immediate maintenance requirements across Carseland Nitrogen Operations. This position has the primary responsibility for the maintenance and repair of utility and process piping as well as fixed equipment such as drums, towers and exchangers.

This position is located at Nutrien's Carseland, Alberta site (approximately 25km East of Calgary)

What You'll Do:
  • Assist with the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of piping components and systems, as well as fixed equipment such as tanks, towers and exchangers
  • Maintenance and repair of utility and process piping as well as fixed equipment such as drums, towers, and exchangers
  • Implement the Preventive Maintenance program for piping and fixed equipment systems such as steam, traps, check valves, manual isolation valves, tanks, towers, and exchangers
  • Utilize SAP software for daily maintenance activities
  • Active participation in team safety meetings, audits and Job Task Observation of peers
  • Day-to-day safe and efficient execution of the department's preventative, routine, and immediate maintenance requirements
  • Maintain all tools, work area and equipment a clean and orderly fashion
  • Read and interpret construction fabrication drawings and specifications
  • Work alongside and in cooperation with other maintenance trades, operations, and technical groups
  • Participate in the rotating on call schedule
  • Manage contract group through various projects or tasks
  • Coordinate and executed maintenance work during shutdowns, outages, and turnarounds to help return the plant to service on schedule.
What You'll Bring:
  • Alberta Journeyperson Certificate, Steamfitter/Pipefitter
  • 5+ years of plant maintenance experience in a chemical/petrochemical industry
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Strong proven troubleshooting skills
  • Commitment to achieving desired results with a positive work environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build positive working relationships and contribute to a strong team-oriented workplace culture.
