Overview

Come join us in reshaping the future with AtkinsRéalis. AtkinsRéalis is in hiring a Construction Manager to join our growing team. This position will be based in our Calgary, Alberta offices supporting a transformative major rail project in downtown Calgary!

The successful candidate will function as an integrated member of the project leadership team, working closely with the Owner, Design Consultants, Contractors, Utility Stakeholders, Regulatory Authorities, and Operations representatives to ensure safe, efficient, and cost‑effective project delivery.

Your role
  • Lead and manage construction delivery activities for assigned LRT infrastructure packages.
  • Provide proactive oversight of schedule, budget, quality, risk, and safety performance.
  • Monitor contractor performance against contractual obligations, specifications, and project objectives.
  • Lead constructability reviews and ensure designs are optimized for safe and efficient construction.
  • Review design submissions for completeness, constructability, cost implications, schedule impacts, and operational requirements.
  • Manage design changes, technical queries, and field engineering issues during construction.
  • Oversee construction of at‑grade LRT stations and associated passenger facilities.
  • Ensure effective integration of station works with track, roadway, utility, and urban realm elements.
  • Coordinate environmental, geotechnical, hydrotechnical, and structural stakeholders during river crossing construction.
  • Facilitate resolution of interface issues among construction packages and project stakeholders.
  • Review construction progress, earned value metrics, forecasts, and productivity indicators.
  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with project health and safety requirements.

About you
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or a combination of education and work experience
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Alberta or eligibility for registration preferred.
  • Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience in major transportation, rail, bridge, or heavy civil infrastructure projects.
  • Experience serving in a Construction Manager, Resident Engineer, Project Manager, Delivery Manager, or similar senior leadership role.
  • Experience managing construction within active urban environments.
  • Extensive bridge construction experience including concrete and steel structures.
  • Experience with collaborative delivery models including Progressive Design‑Build, Alliance, or P3 delivery.
  • Experience working with municipal and provincial regulatory agencies in Alberta is preferred.
