Your opportunity:
The Mining Industry Management Program (MIMP) in the Department of Civil and Mineral Engineering is seeking an eLearning Media Developer to design and develop engaging digital learning experiences for online courses and modules. With the MIMP Director, you will work directly with course instructors from academia and industry to transform subject matter expertise into high-quality educational content through storyboarding, filming, video editing, graphic design, and the development of interactive learning materials using online authoring tools such as Articulate Rise 360. This hands-on role requires creativity, technical proficiency, and strong collaboration skills to produce accessible, visually engaging, and effective multimedia learning resources that support the successful design, development, and launch of online professional education programs.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing components of digital media communications projects
  • Planning and developing pre-production video ideas into outlines, scripts, and story boards
  • Assessing and determining best practices and standards for multiple instructional modalities
  • Developing e-learning modules and online assessments using existing software for instructional purposes
  • Developing resources on educational related matters for instructors and subject matter experts
  • Determining the optimal presentation of video, audio and still images
  • Implementing production activities according to plans and schedules
  • Creating and/or editing original, published content and materials

Essential Qualifications:

  • Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of experience designing and developing online learning using Articulate Rise 360, including interactive modules, instructional videos, knowledge checks, and diverse learning modalities.
  • Strong expertise in e-learning development, multi-media production and the creation of engaging online learning experiences.
  • Proven ability to guide instructors through content development and on-camera delivery, including scriptwriting, coaching, and presentation support.
  • Strong video production and post-production experience using tools such as Vegas Pro to create high-quality instructional videos and media assets.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with subject matter experts and instructors across diverse disciplines to structure, refine, and validate content into effective learning materials.
  • Ability to translate complex subject matter into clear, engaging, and learner-focused educational content.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to diplomatically navigate differing perspectives and align SMEs and instructors toward successful learning outcomes.
  • Experience with graphic design and e-learning tools.

Assets (Nonessential):

  • Completion of a certificate in instructional design.
  • Experience working with both faculty and industry subject matter experts.

USW Pay Band 11 -- $76,577. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $97,928. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
