Course Number and Name: PMU340Y1 - Lieder

Course Description: Study and performance of selected Lieder in a masterclass setting. Singers are required to recite the text and give a description of the poetry, background and musical setting. Knowledge of German vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation is required.

Class Schedule: Thursdays 1-2pm

Months of contract: September 2026 to April 2027

Salary: $6,598.33

Qualifications: Graduate degree in performance, doctorate preferred. Active performing career combined with extensive knowledge of German song repertoire, diction, and poetry. Demonstrated excellence coaching singers in Lieder at the university level.

Duties: Define course objectives and materials; provide clear guidelines on course requirements and regulations; teach classes as scheduled; administer and evaluate student assignments; prepare and submit final grades in accordance with policy. Maintain reasonable hours of student consultation outside scheduled class hours.
