Job Description
What's the opportunity?
As a Commercial Credit Advisor, Client Review Specialist, you will be responsible to review and make recommendations for select business clients' credit profiles that require expert knowledge, experience and analysis relative to risk policy criteria. You will partner with Relationship Managers (RMs) to understand the client's situation and mitigate potential risks, to prevent client credit situations from deteriorating. You will ensure the safety and soundness of RBC funds through strong judgement and analytical skills, guided by RBC risk policy adherence and maintaining a Client First Focus.
What will you do?
- Perform triage and risk assessment for identified borrowers where potential deteriorating risk profile may exist and partner with the RM to take action to mitigate identified risks as necessary
- Recommend credit/restructuring, with RM support, and apply a deep understanding of credit policies/procedures and guidelines, providing sound credit counseling to sales/service partners on client issues
- Operate within Delegated Lending Authorities, following all credit policy, rules and guidelines, obtaining and documenting verifications and exercising sound adjudication
- Provide consistent service within established benchmarks, contributing to achievement of business Client Service Commitments (CSC's)
- Exercise due diligence in following RBC operational risk policies, procedures, standards and guidelines, ensuring a balanced focus on client experience, efficiency and operational risk
- Demonstrate a sense of urgency, take ownership of issues and strive to deliver on 'once and done', minimizing hand offs and resolving issues at first point of contact
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement and its alignment to achieve client and business strategies
- Engage in cross skilling, training and role hybridization activities to ensure continuous learning and an innovative workforce
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- 2+ years of Commercial lending or Commercial credit experience
- Solid understanding of criteria paper and industry related nuances
- Strong experience in analyzing company financial statements
- Ability to take ownership and initiative to investigate and resolve complex commercial credit issues
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- Capacity to manage work volumes to meet deadlines
- Ability to recognize and leveraged opportunities to improve the client experience and minimize risks
Nice-to-have
- Commercial Account Management, Relationship Management or Commercial Adjudication experience
- Business degree
