Job Description
What is the Opportunity?
The Director of Data Security Technology Operations leads the operational excellence and technical support of RBC's data security infrastructure. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and support of a diverse portfolio of on-premises and SaaS-based security technologies that enable RBC's data protection and data loss prevention capabilities. You will lead a globally distributed team of technical support staff responsible for ensuring these systems remain available, optimized, and aligned with business and compliance requirements. Additionally, you will serve as a key operational liaison between business units and the security technology team, enabling smooth integration of data security solutions across the enterprise.
What Will You Do?
- Lead, mentor, and develop a geographically dispersed team of data security technology specialists responsible for operating and maintaining endpoint and network-based security tooling
- Oversee the troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of on-premises and cloud-based data security technologies
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, runbooks, and technical documentation that enable consistent, reliable service delivery across all systems
- Manage audit requests and compliance inquiries related to data security infrastructure, working closely with audit and compliance teams
- Ensure operational systems meet regulatory and compliance requirements, maintaining appropriate control documentation and evidence
- Drive operational improvements and process optimization across the technology stack
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) for data security systems
- Manage vendor relationships and contracts for data security technology platforms, including performance monitoring and SLA management
- Support business units with application onboarding to data security technologies, providing guidance on policy configuration, integration requirements, and compliance alignment
- Evaluate, recommend, and process exceptions to data security policies, working with stakeholders to balance security requirements with business needs
- Serve as the primary operational liaison between business units and the data security technology team, ensuring smooth communication and issue resolution
- Partner with security architects, compliance, and IT leadership to align operational capabilities with organizational requirements
- Support incident response and escalation processes for data security systems
- Recommend technology upgrades, vendor management, and infrastructure improvements based on operational experience
What Do You Need to Succeed?
Must Have:
- 5+ years of progressive experience in IT operations, technical support, or systems administration
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams, preferably in a global or distributed environment
- Demonstrated expertise in supporting and maintaining enterprise security technologies
- Strong understanding of endpoint and network security tools and platforms
- Experience developing operational procedures, documentation, and control frameworks
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Strong communication skills for working across technical and non-technical stakeholders
Nice to Have:
- Cybersecurity background or certifications (CISSP, CISM, CompTIA Security+)
- Experience with data loss prevention (DLP), data security, or insider threat platforms
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS)
- Experience managing SaaS and on-premises infrastructure
- Background in audit and compliance support
- Experience managing vendor relationships and SaaS contracts
