CANDU Energy Inc./AtkinsRéalis Nuclear Inc. is seeking a qualified Senior Mechanical CAD Designer for the Pickering B Refurbishment Project.
Your roleThis position requires working in a fast‑paced technically complex environment. Typical duties and essential functions will include but not be limited to technical leadership of a CAD design team and the preparation, design, modification, coordination, and review of 3D models and 2D CAD deliverables as detailed below:
- Champion a CAD team dedicated to a major scope of the refurbishment project, including the creation, development and maintenance of 3D models. This includes a working technical knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoDesk Plant3D and Navisworks software.
- Have a technical understanding of REVIT and SmartPlant 3D model integration into the Navisworks modeling environment.
- Create presentations to demonstrate 3D model development in support of construction and engineering objectives.
- Single point of contact (SPOC) for all incoming CAD tickets for the scope of work.
- Create AutoCad 2D Change Paper drawings. Change Paper training will be provided if necessary.
- Ensure CAD file configuration management and storage are maintained as per company procedures for both AutoCAD (AutoDesk Vault) and SolidWorks (Teamcentre) files.
- Remain compliant with nuclear specific Quality Assurance CAD procedures, manuals and operating instructions.
- Dynamically work with management and engineering to strategically align CAD assignments with client expectations and project schedules with the flexibility to meet changing priorities.
About you
- College diploma or equivalent work experience with a minimum of 10 years in mechanical design and drafting.
- Working technical knowledge of SolidWorks, Plant3D, and Navisworks CAD software.
- Working technical knowledge of Leica TruView and AutoDesk Fusion 360 software an asset.
- Technical understanding of Navisworks software to include REVIT and SmartPlant 3D models.
- Working knowledge of 2D AutoCAD and Autodesk Raster Design.
- Recognized as an effective technical people leader with the ability to technically assist more junior personnel.
- Demonstrates a general technical understanding of civil and electrical engineering disciplines.
- Demonstrates dependability and responsibility when making appropriate project specific engineering CAD decisions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- The ability to confidently interact with the client, vendors and other partners.
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills.
- Valid OPG clearance is an asset.
