What you will do:

Director, User Experience Design

Hybrid work environment 3 days per week from the Cineplex corporate headquarters at 1303 Yonge Street, Toronto (Yonge and St. Clair).

We are looking for a Director of User Experience Design (UXD) to lead a team at the forefront of crafting seamless and unforgettable digital journeys across web and mobile apps, for iconic brands like Cineplex, The Rec Room, Playdium, and more.

As the Director, you'll champion our UXD practice and support a talented team of interaction designers, visual designers, user researchers, and digital content specialists. This role is instrumental in evolving our movie-going experience, overseeing the validation of new concepts, support ongoing enhancements, and inspiring change at all stages of the product life cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support a team of highly engaged interaction designers, visual designers, user researchers and digital content specialists on all aspects of digital product design
  • Define overall UX Strategy and standardize processes
  • Analyze & evaluate all design work for quality, adherence to user experience best practices and usability standards & heuristics
  • Stakeholder engagement and Design education/evangelism
  • Oversee creation, evolution, and maintenance of Design System for Cineplex brands
  • Oversee development of user research strategies, identifying research opportunities and ensuring appropriate research methods are applied
  • Ensure data from a wide variety of methods is gathered, analysed then synthesized into actionable insights to inform design, personas and priorities

Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in User Experience Design, Service Design or Human Computer Interaction

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience working in a management/leadership position in UX, design at enterprise or agency
  • 7-10 years of experience leading UX teams on large scale or enterprise projects
  • Strong understanding of accessibility standards
  • Proficiency in Figma and understanding of design latest tools

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Highly Developed Strategic & Critical Thinking Skills
  • Expert in User Experience Design Principles & heuristics
  • Expert in User Research methodologies, heuristics & best practices for conducting research, both qualitative and quantitative
  • Expert in design thinking and how to lead various DT rituals
  • Expert analytical and synthesis skills with an ability to turn research results into design insights
  • Extensive knowledge of visual & graphic design principles and theory
  • Extensive knowledge of the latest UX, creative and visual design trends and best practices
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain positive professional relationships with all stakeholders and leadership, ability to influence a range of audiences
  • A customer centric focus and ability to interact with various levels of clients in a professional setting
  • Expert understanding of current UX best practices and guidelines
