Graduate Geotechnical Engineer

Worley Consulting is hiring 3–5 Graduate Geotechnical Engineers across Calgary, Alberta; Markham, Ontario; and Vancouver, British Columbia.

Join Worley Consulting’s Environmental & Sustainability team to deliver practical geotechnical solutions for mining, tailings, dams, energy, and infrastructure projects. Build your technical skills alongside experienced professionals while supporting field programs, engineering analysis, design, and high-quality project delivery for customers.

Purpose of the role

As a Graduate Geotechnical Engineer, you will work with multidisciplinary teams to assess geological and geotechnical site conditions, investigate sites, perform analysis and design, and prepare reports. Gain experience throughout the geotechnical project lifecycle, including site reconnaissance, laboratory data interpretation, engineering recommendations, quality assurance and quality control, and customer deliverables.

Project opportunities
Your work may cover mining, tailings, dam safety and engineering, energy infrastructure, ports and marine terminals, low-carbon energy and industrial facilities, large-diameter pipelines, coastal LNG facilities, industrial processing plants, and dam structures. Opportunities may also include pipeline integrity and geohazard assessments.

Worley’s Graduate Development program offers opportunities to learn from experienced engineers, environmental scientists, and project delivery professionals, engage with customers, and work toward Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration.

Location(s): Calgary, Alberta; Vancouver, British Columbia; or Markham, Ontario.

The role combines office and project-based work, with travel to project sites for field programs as needed.

You will be responsible for:

  • Support geological site reconnaissance, geotechnical site characterization, field investigations, laboratory data interpretation, engineering analysis, design, and technical reporting.
  • Develop geotechnical engineering recommendations under the guidance of senior professionals, including work related to soil mechanics, soil and rock engineering parameters, seismic analysis, soil dynamics, and site development.
  • Contribute to geotechnical engineering assignments and field-based QA/QC inspection, testing, documentation, and reporting.

· Support geotechnical work for mining and infrastructure projects, including tailings facilities, dam engineering, and dam safety reviews.

· Contribute to geotechnical assignments for ports and marine terminals, low-carbon energy and industrial facilities, large-diameter pipelines, coastal LNG facilities, industrial processing plants, and dam structures, including pipeline integrity and geohazard assessments.

  • Prepare clear, accurate, and technically credible reports, proposals, calculations, presentations, and other project deliverables.
  • Participate in customer meetings and contribute to project and industry-facing technical presentations as your experience grows.
  • Collaborate with integrated project teams that include engineering disciplines, environmental scientists, project delivery professionals, and project support teams.
  • Manage assigned priorities effectively, meet project commitments, and produce accurate deliverables with appropriate guidance and technical review.
  • Travel to project sites and participate in field programs as required.
  • Apply Worley’s health, safety, and environmental expectations in field and office activities, supporting a culture focused on protecting colleagues, customers, contractors, communities, and the environment.
  • Participate in Worley’s Graduate Development program and actively build the technical, professional, and interpersonal capabilities required for long-term career growth.

What you’ll bring to the role:
