Here's how a Scheduler (18-Month Contract) for PCL Construction Management Inc. within Calgary contributes to our team:

Responsibilities

  • Maintain current knowledge of scheduling software, construction scheduling methodologies, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and communication of project schedules throughout all project phases, including preconstruction, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Apply project controls, document controls, contract requirements, and scheduling procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Communicate with project and site teams to assess progress, monitor performance, and provide schedule updates and analysis.
  • Develop, maintain, monitor, and report on project schedules, including milestone tracking, baseline performance, and schedule impact analysis for changes, delays, and risks.
  • Identify, analyze, and communicate schedule variances, delays, impacts, opportunities, and recovery strategies to project teams.
  • Assist project management teams in developing and monitoring short-term schedules and evaluating impacts on the master schedule.
  • Administer and maintain the Primavera P6 EPPM environment, including project setup, governance, user access, data integrity, and compliance with corporate scheduling standards.
  • Support district-wide schedule database health through quality reviews, template management, project archiving, standardized reporting, and implementation of scheduling best practices.
  • Lead scheduling review meetings and develop tools, procedures, layouts, and documentation to improve schedule quality, reporting accuracy, and adherence to company standards.
  • Serve as the district Primavera P6 Subject Matter Expert (SME) by providing training, onboarding, technical support, troubleshooting, best-practice guidance, and support to project teams through virtual consultations, office support, and site visits as required.

Qualifications

  • Engineering Technology diploma, Engineering degree, Construction Management degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of progressive construction scheduling experience.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Primavera P6 EPPM, Acumen Fuse, Validator and MS Projects.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and related scheduling and reporting systems.
  • Experience supporting planning and scheduling activities across multiple phases of construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, productivity, project controls, and critical path scheduling principles.
  • Experience administering scheduling databases, standards, templates, and reporting tools is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, presentation, and engagement skills.
  • Proven ability to train, coach, and support users with varying levels of scheduling knowledge.
  • Ability to work effectively with project teams, field supervision, trade contractors, and senior leadership.
