Join an enthusiastic team of Environmental Planners supporting a broad range of transportation and water infrastructure planning and design projects. This role offers the opportunity to broaden your skills, contribute to meaningful project work, and develop your career in environmental planning.

Your Opportunity

As a Junior Environmental Planner within our Transportation business line, you will work as part of multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of infrastructure planning and design projects. You will support our team of Environmental Planners by assisting with environmental documentation and reports, completing research and environmental analyses, preparing and coordinating public, agency, and Indigenous engagement materials, and maintaining consultation records.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with identifying environmental issues and providing overall support to environmental and engineering staff
  • Maintain effective communication with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to collect information and help identify, respond to, and address issues
  • Interact professionally with Indigenous communities, clients, regulatory agencies, the public, and other stakeholders
  • Assist with preparing and coordinating public, regulatory agency, and Indigenous community consultation programs, including maintaining thorough correspondence records
  • Help ensure environmental and consultation processes are followed and documented in accordance with applicable environmental legislation and project requirements
  • Support the preparation of environmental documentation and reports, meeting materials, meeting minutes, and presentations within required timelines
  • Attend virtual and/or in-person public meetings and document meeting activities, comments, and outcomes
  • Participate in both team-based and independent work assignments
  • Follow quality assurance/quality control and health and safety requirements
  • Travel as required, estimated at approximately 10%, for site visits, client meetings, and public consultation events

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Strong communication, writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to contribute as a collaborative team member and take a proactive approach to assignments
  • Demonstrated interest in environmental assessment planning and infrastructure projects
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage tasks and support project coordination
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Education and Experience

  • University degree or college diploma in environmental studies, planning, geography, environmental science, or a related field
