As a Senior Health Risk Assessment Specialist within WSP's Environmental Risk Assessment practice, you will help shape environmental risk management across Canada. You will provide technical leadership on complex human health and ecological risk assessment projects in the natural resources sector, translating scientific evidence into practical strategies that protect people and ecosystems, support sustainable development, and strengthen environmental decision-making.

You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients and project teams, lead multidisciplinary assignments, mentor emerging professionals, and contribute to the continued growth of a nationally connected technical practice.

Your Impact

  • Lead human health risk assessments, ecological risk assessments, exposure assessments, and related environmental health studies that inform confident project decisions.

  • Deliver senior technical direction in toxicology, exposure assessment, risk characterization, and regulatory interpretation for complex work across Canada.

  • Direct multidisciplinary teams to integrate environmental science, engineering, hydrogeology, geology, toxicology, and regulatory expertise into clear solutions.

  • Develop risk management strategies that advance remediation, environmental approvals, impact assessments, and contaminated sites management.

  • Strengthen client relationships by providing trusted advice throughout the project lifecycle and identifying opportunities to create greater value.

  • Mentor emerging risk assessment professionals and help build technical excellence across WSP's national practice.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • A bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in Toxicology, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Public Health, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Extensive progressive experience conducting and leading human health and ecological risk assessments in environmental consulting, industry, or government.

  • Demonstrated expertise in Canadian federal and provincial risk assessment frameworks, technical guidance, and regulatory processes.

  • Advanced knowledge of toxicology, exposure modelling, fate and transport concepts, risk characterization, and environmental health science.

  • Proven ability to lead complex technical projects, budgets, schedules, quality reviews, and multidisciplinary teams toward defensible outcomes.

  • Strong technical writing and review capability, including authorship of senior-level risk assessment reports and clear communication of complex findings.

  • Experience building client relationships, developing proposals, supporting strategic planning, and pursuing opportunities that grow technical services.

  • A valid driver's licence and the ability to travel periodically to client sites and project locations.

Compensation

  • AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $110,600 - $146,500

  • MB & ON: $100,900 - $139,000

  • NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $99,900 - $132,700
