Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. The role supports Rail Fleet Asset Management in the delivery and administration of the refurbishment projects. This role supports the analysis and interpretation of patterns and trends in complex data sets using statistical tools and creates reports and visual representations of data trends and patterns. The role undertakes compliance reviews of technical documents, reports and drawings and field verification initiatives to support the compliance assurance program and ensure projects are effectively supported throughout their lifecycle.
What will I be doing?

  • Responsible for the development of reports, dashboards visual representations and supporting materials to communicate trends, issues, and opportunities to management and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and responds to inquiries and requests for information in a timely manner.
  • Assists in the review and assessment of compliance with asset class engineering requirements, standards, and regulatory requirements by agency delivery divisions and as directed by agency retained and outsourced contracts in areas of design, construction, operations, and maintenance including reviews of technical documents, reports and drawings.
  • Supports the control and development of new and agency retained assets and provides support and recommendations for asset development and SOGR programs to meet corporate objectives and customer levels of service requirements.
  • Collaborates with internal and external business clients, partners, and external stakeholders in the development of the asset class functions and data analysis and reporting capabilities.

  • Presents materials to peers and senior management to engage and promote awareness off, and support for, the asset class discipline progress and needs and apprise them of critical issues for escalation or collaborative resolution.

  • Supports forecasting, assessment, and prioritization of new procurement demand from across the organization and the process to identify and influence the current and future demand for, and level of service from, the organization's asset base

  • Supports structured control of budgets, contract expenditures and invoicing and ensures compliance with the agencies accounting practices and policies.

  • Promotes and creates a working environment that is aligned with the organization’s desire to be a “best company to work for” demonstrating well developed team working skills.

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a university degree or diploma in Engineering, Engineering Science, Management, or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent. PMP designation is preferred.
  • Engineering experience, preferably in a rail or transit environment, with knowledge of engineering standards and technical practices related to the design, maintenance, and performance of transit assets.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, mathematical, and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret operational and maintenance data.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, respond to inquiries, and deliver presentations.
  • Knowledge of project, change, and risk management principles, including budget and schedule controls, performance monitoring, and reporting.
  • Knowledge of data management, statistical analysis, database concepts, and tools such as Excel, including data modelling, mining, and segmentation.
  • Ability to develop and monitor performance, reliability, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) aligned with organizational strategy, customer service levels, and business objectives.
  • Knowledge of asset management practices, including FMECA, RCFA, whole-life cost modelling, and the development and review of asset management plans and investment strategies.
